• Moe Ruark (below left), vice president of sales at Valco Equipment Inc, with colleague Dave Maier, at World of Concrete. Mr Ruark said Valco, which is based in North Canton, Ohio and sells and rents a wide range of equipment, will add around 50 new Hydek mast climbers to its rental fleet this year, all with 24 ft long by 7 ft wide (7.3 m by 2.2 m) decks and with 50 ft (15 m) of mast per unit. Valco already operates a fleet of Hydek units, but Mr Ruark says he likes the fact that the mast sections and platform frame are now made of galvanised steel.

The company, which recently opened a depot in China Grove, NC, is also a Safi dealer.

• Formwork specialist Doka and hoist and platform manufacturer Geda have jointly developed a formwork Table Lifting System (TLS) that received its official launch at World of Concrete. The Geda–designed, electrically powered system provides an alternative to cranes for raising formwork panels, and has a platform of 9 ft by 16 ft (2.7 m by 4.9 m) and takes 20 seconds to move the 3.5 m between floors. The system will get its European launch at Bauma.
