Balfour buys in US

Balfour Beatty has announced plans to acquire US-based Centex Construction for US$ 362 million (€ 276 million) from the Centex Corporation. According to Balfour Beatty, Centex's construction arm has an order book worth US$ 5,6 billion (€ 4,28 billion).
The Centex Corporation is predominately a house builder, with annual sales around US$ 13 billion (€ 10 billion).
Centex Construction achieved sales of US$ 1,61 billion (€ 1,23 billion) in the year to the end of March 2006.
