Fassi boosts range and production
15 April 2008
Italian loader crane manufacturer Fassi has added new heavy duty and medium-light duty cranes to its range and announced that it will boost production from 30 cranes a day to 45 a day within two years. Fassi forecasts that its production will reach 10,000 units in 2008.
The most important of the new cranes are the 14.6 tonne-metre F155A and the 40.7 tonne-metre F455AXP, which, Fassi said, will “further complete, respectively, the medium-light and the heavy Fassi crane ranges.†The F455AXP has a maximum reach of 20.95 m and incorporates Fassi's electronic FX800 moment limiting device and the option of remote radio control of the outriggers. The smaller F155A, meanwhile, has a maximum reach of 16.95 m and will be available with two to six hydraulic extensions.
Speaking at the SAIE show in October, Fassi said it aimed to continue to expand production capacity, which has already risen 60% since 2003. It has 450 employees at 12 plants in Italy and said its target was to produce 9,000 units next year and 10,000 in 2008. The company downplayed any fall in its North American market where it sells around 800 cranes a year. The slowdown in residential construction would only affect sales of its SE range of cranes, said Fassi, but not the other models.
Finally, Fassi is to enter a new niche crane market with the launch of the T range of four cranes designed for car breakdown and towaway services.
