Skanska wins €175 million Norwegian rail contract

Skanska Norway has signed a NOK1.34 billion (€175 million) contract with Jernbaneverket to construct km of the 23km Farriseidet-Porsgrunn railway extension in Norway.

The contract will see Skanska Norway develop the railway between Farriseidet, Larvik, to Telemark municipality border, Norway.

The project, UFP01 Vestfold, is the third of four enterprises in the Farriseidet-Porsgrunn extension and will be carried out as an internal cooperation between Skanska Norway and Skanska Sweden. Works are scheduled to commence in June 2013 and will be completed in August 2016.

The contract value will be included in the order bookings for Skanska Norway for the second quarter 2013.

Jernbaneverket is the Norwegian government’s agency for railway services, responsible for the planning, construction and maintenance of the country’s railway network.
